The Shure SLXD24D/B58 is a two-channel digital wireless kit: the SLXD4D dual receiver and two SLXD2 handhelds with Beta 58A capsules. Two microphones from one unit is exactly what a wedding with a host and speeches, a seminar with two moderators, karaoke, a debate or a small concert with two singers needs. With one receiver and one power lead there is less on the table than with two separate systems.
The receiver connects with two XLR cables to a desk such as the Soundcraft Signature 10, or directly into two active speakers. SLX-D is the simplest of Shure's digital series: the same dependable principle as QLX-D, but with fewer network and security features. If you need one microphone, take the QLXD24/B58; the bodypack pair is the SLXD14D. More channels come from the SLXD4QDAN.
What to consider when renting
You need power for the receiver, two XLR cables and batteries for both transmitters; confirm when ordering whether you want AA batteries or rechargeables. The receiver scans and finds a frequency for each channel, then you sync each microphone by infrared. You can set it up without a technician. Make sure the microphones are not pointed at the speakers, or they will howl.
