The JBL PRX812 is a 12-inch active speaker that works as the main speaker for a small event and as a stage monitor. We rent it for presentations, seminars, smaller parties and acoustic concerts with a few dozen to a hundred or so people, and as a monitor for bands that do not need a VTX-level stage setup.

The PRX815 gives more bass from its 15-inch woofer; the PRX812 is lighter and, without a subwoofer, clearer for speech. The SRX818SP subwoofer pairs with it via a Speaker Pole. If weight is no concern and a band is playing, choose the SRX812P. For a stand, the Gravity TLS 431 B or a simple Speaker Stand will do.

What to consider when renting

You need a mains socket and an XLR cable per speaker, plus a stand or a pole on a subwoofer. As a monitor the cabinet rests on its angled side in front of the singer. A microphone or player can go straight into the two inputs; add a mixer for a bigger setup. Keep the vents clear and the speaker under cover outdoors.
