Speech kit for up to 50 people
The speech kit for up to 50 people is built for a room where a few people talk and everyone else needs to hear them clearly: a small seminar, a training day, a company meeting, birthday speeches or a housing association general meeting. It covers a small hall, a classroom or a private room in a restaurant where the audience sits in front of a single pair of speakers. It makes speech intelligible and plays background music, but it is not meant for dancing or a band, as there is no subwoofer and the speakers are ten-inch models.
A typical day with this kit looks like this: the speakers go on stands at the front of the room, the mixer sits on a table near the presenter or at the side of the room, both handheld mics are switched on and a few test sentences are spoken. One mic stays with the presenter, the other is passed around for questions or waits for the next speaker. Background music comes from a phone or laptop into the mixer's stereo input. The whole kit fits in an ordinary car and one person with no previous experience can set it up.

Why these items
- 1.Two JBL EON710 powered speakers are ten-inch and light, which is enough for speech and background music in a room of up to 50 and easy to lift onto a stand.
- 2.Two speaker stands raise the speakers above head height so the voice carries to the back rows and the microphone does not start to feed back.
- 3.The Soundcraft Notepad 12FX is a small mixer with enough mic and stereo inputs for two microphones and a phone, and its controls can be learned in a few minutes.
- 4.The Shure SLXD24D/B58 is a dual wireless handheld system with a single receiver, so a moderator and a presenter or a person asking a question can speak at the same time without cables.
Setup and preparation
Put the speakers on their stands at the front of the room, in front of the microphones, top at about head height. The mixer goes on a table near the presenter, where someone can see the presenter. Connect the speakers to the mixer outputs with XLR cables and the mic receiver to the mixer inputs, switch on the mixer first and then the speakers, and test both mics before the room fills up. Power comes from the venue, one socket per speaker and one for the mixer.
Prepare two power sockets at the front of the room or one extension lead, a table for the mixer and one person who keeps an eye on mic levels during the day and starts the music from the phone. Check the mic batteries before you start and keep spares at hand. Tell us when ordering how long the cables from the mixer to the speakers need to be. Our technician can come, set the kit up and do the sound check if you prefer; this is agreed when you order.

When to choose another kit
If you have more than 50 listeners or the room is long and high, choose the Presentation and seminar kit for up to 150 people, which has larger speakers, headset mics and a USB DI box for a laptop. If people want to dance after the speeches, take the Party kit for up to 100 people, because it has a subwoofer. If the event is outdoors with no mains power, the Battery-powered speech kit for outdoors is the right choice.
