Wedding sound kit

The wedding sound kit is built around the three parts of a wedding day: the ceremony, where the officiant and the couple must be heard in the back row, the dinner with speeches and toasts, and the dancing, which needs bass. It suits a wedding of 80 to 150 guests in a manor hall, a restaurant or a marquee, where all three parts happen in the same room. There are no monitors or instrument mics for a live band, and a DJ has to bring their own players; the kit gives them speakers and a place to plug in.

The day usually goes like this: during the ceremony the officiant wears the headset and a bodypack, so their hands stay free and the voice carries evenly even when they turn to the couple. Music for the entrance and exit comes from a phone through the stereo DI box. At dinner the two wireless handhelds move between the tables for the speeches of the best man, the parents and friends. When the tables are cleared, the subwoofer is turned up and the same kit plays dance music until morning.

Setup and preparation

Put the speakers on stands at the front of the ceremony or dining hall, in front of the guests, and the subwoofer under one speaker or at the edge of the dance floor. The mixer goes on a table at the side of the room, in sight of the speaker. Fit the headset on the officiant early, bodypack in a pocket or on a belt, and let them try speaking while turned towards the couple. Talk through the handhelds, set the channels and keep them muted until the toasts.

The wedding organiser needs to provide sockets by the speakers and the subwoofer, a table for the mixer, and one person who knows where the mic channels are and starts the right track from the phone at the right moment. If the ceremony is outside and the party inside, allow time to move the kit or ask for an additional kit. Our technician can deliver the kit, set it up and do the sound check, and stay for the whole day if wanted; this is agreed when you order.

When to choose another kit

If a band plays at the wedding, choose the Live band kit for up to 200 people instead, or ask us to add monitors and microphones to this kit.
