What is the difference between the AD4D and a QLX-D receiver?

The AD4D has two channels, runs on a Dante network, supports ShowLink with ADX transmitters and is built for the most demanding work. A QLX-D receiver has one channel and is simpler, but entirely sufficient for an ordinary event.

Can I run a handheld and a headset at the same time on one AD4D?

Yes, an AD2 handheld on one channel and an AD1 or ADX1 bodypack with a headset microphone on the other. That is the typical conference kit.

The Shure AD4D is the two-channel Axient Digital receiver, half-rack wide and as dependable as the larger AD4Q. We rent it when one or two top-tier wireless microphones are needed: a lead singer in front of a band, two moderators on stage, a keynote speaker and an interviewer on a TV show, or the two leads in a theatre piece. The AD4D often leaves with one handheld and one bodypack, which covers most conferences.

Like the AD4Q, the AD4D receives every Axient Digital transmitter and outputs on XLR and Dante. Two AD4D units can be mounted side by side in one rack space. If you need three or four channels, a single AD4Q is simpler and takes less room. If you want a good digital system for a simpler event, look at the Shure QLXD24/B58 kit, which bundles receiver and handheld.

What to consider when renting

The receiver needs power and two antennas; for a distant stage we recommend Shure UA874WB directional antennas. Transmitters sync by infrared. Add transmitters, batteries and the SBRC charger if needed to the cart. It connects to the desk by XLR or over the Dante network. One AD4D can be set up without a technician if you have used Shure receivers before; otherwise ask for our technician.
