The JBL VTX A8 is a passive three-way line array element with two 8-inch woofers. It is our main system for medium and larger concerts, festival stages, galas in big halls and outdoor events where hundreds to thousands of people must be covered evenly and the stage needs clear speech and a full band sound. Several elements per side, flown, is a normal concert configuration.
The A8 is flown with the VTX A8 AF frame or stacked on the A8 BP base plate, and the low end comes from VTX B18 or B28 subwoofers. Amplification is the Crown I-Tech 4×3500HD for the elements and the I-Tech 12000HD for the subs. For a smaller hall or as fill, the VTX A6 is the better fit. If you want a system without an amp rack, choose SRX812P active speakers with SRX828SP subs.
What to consider when renting
Flying needs truss or points with sufficient rated load, hoists and an array frame; ground stacking needs the base plate or subwoofers underneath. On top of that come the amp rack, speaker cables, power for the amplifiers and system tuning. This system leaves our warehouse with a technician who rigs and tunes it, because a wrongly flown array is dangerous.
Best for
- Festival stages and outdoor concerts
- Concerts and galas in large halls
- Events with hundreds to thousands of guests
- Touring kit with B18 or B28 subs
