Acoustic duo kit for up to 80 people
A kit for two musicians playing acoustically: singer and guitarist, singer and keyboard player, two singers with guitars. Two JBL PRX812 speakers cover a café, a restaurant hall, a wedding ceremony or a small company evening for up to 80 people, one JBL EON710 monitor lets the musicians hear themselves and a Soundcraft Signature 10 mixer ties it all together. Two Shure SM58s for vocals and two DI boxes for the instruments are exactly what a duo needs on stage. The kit is not meant for drums or a loud band; the band kit is for that.
Setting up takes two musicians less time than a rehearsal. The speakers go on stands facing the audience, the monitor on the floor in front of the musicians, the mixer at the stage edge or beside one musician, who adjusts the level. Guitar and keys go through the DI boxes into the mixer, voices into the SM58s on stands. The Signature 10 has built-in reverb and effects that give the vocal space, and a separate output for the monitor, so the musicians hear themselves louder than the room. In breaks the same mixer plays background music from a phone.

Why these items
- 1.Two JBL PRX812 active speakers cover a room of up to 80 people evenly and give an acoustic guitar and a voice enough low end without a subwoofer, which would be overkill for a duo.
- 2.Two speaker stands lift the speakers above the heads of a seated and standing audience, which matters in a restaurant or at a wedding, where tables and people otherwise block the sound.
- 3.One JBL EON710 stage monitor is enough for a duo: the two musicians stand close together and hear the same monitor, and a smaller speaker as a monitor keeps the stage quiet.
- 4.The Soundcraft Signature 10 is a compact analogue mixer with six microphone inputs, built-in effects and an aux output for the monitor; with four inputs in use there is still room for a third performer.
- 5.Two Shure SM58 vocal microphones are cardioid and made for singing up close; they do not pick up the guitar or the speaker from the side and they tolerate handling.
- 6.Two K&M 210/9 tall microphone stands with booms let the microphone be positioned even for a seated guitarist, whose instrument must not knock against the stand.
- 7.Two BSS AR-133 active DI boxes turn a guitar pickup or a keyboard output into a signal the mixer can use and remove the noise that a long cable brings.
Setup and preparation
The mixer goes next to the musicians so they can adjust the balance between songs; the speakers on stands either side of the audience, slightly in front of the stage, so the microphones stay behind the speakers. The monitor sits on the floor in front of the musicians, angled up towards them. Instruments connect to the DI boxes with jack cables, the DI boxes and microphones to the mixer with XLR. Before guests arrive, a short run-through finds the level at which the microphones do not feed back.
On your side you need one power circuit near the stage, a little table space for the mixer and instrument cables, which usually come with the musicians. In a restaurant, agree with the owner where the stands may go and leave an open area in front of the speakers. If the duo has played through a PA before, they can manage on their own; on request our technician sets everything up and runs the soundcheck, ordered separately.

When to choose another kit
If there are three or four musicians or drums on stage, the Live band kit for up to 200 people with subwoofers, drum microphones and a digital mixer is the right choice. If the audience is over 80 or you play outdoors, add at least a subwoofer and start from the Party kit for up to 100 people. For a solo guitarist or a single singer the Speech kit for up to 50 people with its wireless microphones is enough, or ask for a single-speaker version.
