The Shure SLXD2/B58 is the SLX-D series handheld with the Beta 58A capsule, without a receiver. We rent it as an extra microphone for an SLXD4D or SLXD4QDAN receiver: for example to fill a four-channel receiver with four handhelds, or as a handheld for speeches alongside an SLXD14D kit.
It only works with SLX-D receivers. The complete kit with two of these microphones is the SLXD24D/B58. If you do not have a receiver, order the kit, not the single transmitter. The same capsule in the higher series: QLXD24/B58 and AD2/B58. The capsule can be swapped, for example for the RPW 192 KSM11.
What to consider when renting
It needs a free channel on an SLX-D receiver and two AA batteries or a Shure rechargeable. After the infrared sync, set the gain at the soundcheck to the performer's voice. The Beta 58A is supercardioid, so keep monitors to the side, not directly behind. When it travels through the audience, lock the power button so nobody switches it off by accident.
