The VTX A8 BP is the base plate on which JBL VTX A8 elements are stacked when the array is not flown. The plate keeps the stack upright and lets you tilt the array so the back rows are covered too. We rent it with A8 elements for stages where there are no rigging points or no time to fly.
Often the A8 is stacked on top of VTX B18 or B28 subwoofers instead; the array then sits higher and the plate goes on the subs. If flying is possible, coverage is more even and that calls for the A8 AF frame. The smaller VTX A6 array has its own plate, the A6 BP.
What to consider when renting
Place the plate on a flat, load-bearing surface, at the stage edge or on the subs, and check that the stack does not rock. A tall stack may need bracing and a barrier so the audience cannot push it. Set the angles before adding the last elements. Installation is done by a technician who knows the VTX system.
