The JBL VTX B18 is a passive 18-inch subwoofer, the usual partner of the VTX A8 line array. We rent it for concerts in halls and on festival stages where the bass has to carry to hundreds or thousands of people. One or two B18 per side, under or beside the A8 hang, is our standard medium-sized concert kit.
The B18 runs on the Crown I-Tech 12000HD amplifier; the A8 stack rises on top of it with the A8 BP plate, and the subs can also be flown when needed. With thousands of listeners and a big stage, the B28 gives twice the bass from the same footprint. Next to the smaller A6 hang the B15 is the better fit, and with active speakers the SRX818SP.
What to consider when renting
You need an amplifier channel per subwoofer or pair, Speakon cables and the preset in the amplifier DSP. The subs go on the floor in front of the stage, together in the centre or on both sides, and the A8 stack can rise directly on top of them. The heavy cabinet takes two people and a cart. Installation and tuning are done by our technician.
