Is the Notepad 12FX suitable for web meeting audio?

Yes, that is one of the main reasons it gets rented. Microphones go into the desk, the desk goes into the computer over USB, and the remote participants come back from the computer into the same desk and out to the speakers. Test the connection before going live.

Does it have enough channels for a band?

No. With four microphone inputs it suits a speaking event or an acoustic solo or duo. For a band take the Soundcraft Signature 10, EFX8 or the digital Ui24R.

The Soundcraft Notepad 12FX is a small desktop mixer with four microphone inputs and four stereo inputs, twelve channels in all. It is the desk a moderator, a background music operator or a small act with a couple of microphones and a laptop carries along. We rent it for exhibition stands, presentations, web streams and training sessions where the sound simply has to work and everything has to fit in one bag.

The Notepad 12FX works as a USB sound card, so you can mix the laptop audio and the microphones together and send the same mix back to the computer, for instance into a Zoom or Teams meeting. JBL EON710 or PRX812 are the usual speakers with it. If you need more microphone inputs, the Soundcraft Signature 10 with six is the logical step up. If you do not need a desk at all and one speaker is enough, look at the JBL EON Compact One.

What to consider when renting

The desk needs mains power, XLR cables for the microphones and XLR or TRS cables to the speakers. Bring your own laptop for the USB connection and check before the event that the computer recognises the desk. Four microphone inputs means a fifth microphone will not fit, so plan the channels in advance. Phantom power is available for condenser microphones.

Best for

Presentations and training with one or two microphones
Web streams and hybrid meetings
Exhibition stands and background music
Small acoustic performances
