The Yamaha RIO1608-D2 is a Dante stage rack with 16 analogue inputs and 8 outputs. We rent it beside a QL1 or DM3 for medium-sized concerts, conferences and theatre productions where the stage is far from the desk and nobody wants to run a long multicore. One network cable replaces sixteen XLR lines from stage to desk.

With more than 16 inputs, take the RIO3224-D2 or two RIO1608-D2 racks. The rack needs a Dante console, such as the QL1, DM3 or DM7; it does not work with an analogue desk. The eight outputs cover stage monitors and fill speakers, so those cables stay on stage too. With two racks, one goes to stage left and one to stage right, which keeps the microphone cables short.

What to consider when renting

You need mains power on stage, a network cable to the desk and a switch when there are more than two Dante devices. Microphones and DI boxes go into the rack on XLR; monitors take their signal from the rack outputs. The rack fits in a backstage corner or under the amp rack. Dante setup is done by a technician.
