What is the difference between the M20 and M22?

The M22 is bigger, more powerful and has deeper bass; the M20 is lower and lighter. M20 for the singer, M22 for the drummer and a loud stage.

Can the M22 be used as a PA speaker?

On a small stage and in a pinch, yes, for example as side fill. As a main speaker we recommend a VTX A6 or A8 hang.

The JBL VTX M22 is a passive stage monitor with two 12-inch drivers and a 3-inch high-frequency driver, the more powerful of the VTX monitors. We rent it for large concert and festival stages, for drummers and bass players who need low end from their wedge, and for artists who want a strong, loud mix from the stage without in-ear monitors.

Like the M20, the M22 needs the Crown I-Tech 4×3500HD amplifier. For a singer and a smaller stage the M20 is enough, being lower and lighter. On some stages both are combined: M22 for the drummer and M20 along the front edge. Next to the active SRX812P and PRX812, the M22 is the choice when a big stage needs volume and control.

What to consider when renting

Each monitor needs an amplifier channel, a Speakon cable and its own monitor mix from the console. The heavy cabinet takes two people to carry. Put the monitor on the floor in front of the artist and turn it so the rear of the microphone faces it. The drummer often gets one or two to the side. Tuning is done by our technician.
