The JBL VTX M20 is a passive stage monitor with two 10-inch drivers and a 3-inch high-frequency driver, in a low, wide cabinet that does not hide the artist. We rent it for concert, festival and broadcast stages where the singer and musicians need a loud, clear monitor mix that stays under control even when a wireless microphone moves around the front of the stage.
The M20 needs an amplifier, in our stock the Crown I-Tech 4×3500HD, which gives four monitor mixes from one rack. For a bigger stage and for the drummer, the more powerful VTX M22 fits better. If you do not want a passive rack, an active SRX812P or PRX812 also works as a monitor, but they are taller and less powerful.
What to consider when renting
Each monitor needs an amplifier channel, a Speakon cable and its own monitor mix from the console. Four to six monitors usually go on stage, so plan the cables and console outputs. The monitors are placed on the floor in front of the artist, aimed at the microphone. Tuning and feedback control are a technician's job.
