How many QLXD24 kits can I use at the same time?

Several, each on its own frequency. The exact number depends on the venue and the other RF gear around; from about ten channels we recommend our technician.

Can the receiver go straight into an active speaker without a desk?

Yes, if the speaker has a microphone or line input, as the JBL EON710 or PRX812 do. You then set the volume on the speaker.

The Shure QLXD24/B58 is a complete digital wireless handheld: the QLXD4 receiver and a QLXD2 transmitter with the Beta 58A capsule in one kit. It is the wireless microphone we rent most for mid-sized events: weddings, conferences, company events, band vocals in a club and school ceremonies. The kit is easy to handle and dependable on stage, even when set up by someone doing it for the first time.

The receiver connects by XLR to any mixer, for example a Soundcraft Signature 10 or Yamaha DM3. QLX-D is Shure's middle series: digital, encrypted and networkable, but one channel per receiver. If you need two microphones, the SLXD24D/B58 is a two-channel kit; for the top tier take an Axient Digital AD4D with an AD2 transmitter. The bodypack version in the same series is the QLXD14.

What to consider when renting

The kit includes the receiver with antennas and the handheld; add an XLR cable to the desk and power for the receiver. The transmitter runs on two AA batteries or a Shure rechargeable; confirm when ordering. The receiver finds a frequency by scanning and the transmitter syncs by infrared. With several kits scan them one after another, each new system switched on. The setup is manageable without a technician.
