Can I use the Wireless GO II for stage sound with a mixer?

The 3.5 mm output can technically feed a mixer, but we recommend that only for very small performances. For a stage with a crowd and many wireless devices, Shure SLX-D or QLX-D is far more reliable.

How long do the batteries last?

Usually a normal shooting day with breaks, but the exact time depends on settings and temperature. Bring a power bank and top up during pauses; the internal recording in the transmitters is extra insurance.

The RØDE Wireless GO II is a compact digital wireless kit with two transmitters and one receiver, built first of all for video. The transmitters have a built-in mic and a clip, so an interviewee can simply fasten one to a collar; they also record internally, which saves the take if the radio link drops for a moment. We rent it for video interviews, social media content, documentary shoots and small presentations where the audio goes into a camera or a computer.

The receiver connects to a camera mic input with a 3.5 mm cable, or to a computer or phone over USB. For a less visible mic add the RØDE Lavalier II, which plugs into the transmitter's 3.5 mm socket. This is not a stage system: for a large hall's PA, long distances and several channels choose Shure SLX-D or QLX-D, which work on UHF and give the engineer an XLR output. If you also need to record cabled mics, add a TASCAM FR-AV2 or Sound Devices MixPre6.

What to consider when renting

Charge all three units over USB-C before the shoot; the batteries are built in. Keep a clear line of sight between receiver and transmitters, as bodies and walls shorten the range of a 2.4 GHz digital link. Set the camera input level manually and make a test recording. The camera or computer needs the right cable, so tell us which device the audio goes into and we will include it. Switch on the transmitters' internal recording as a backup.
