TASCAM FR-AV2
RECProfessional 2-Channel 32-Bit Float Audio Recorder
Prices are per 24 hours of rental. Longer rentals, delivery and setup are quoted on request.
The TASCAM FR-AV2 is a two-channel field recorder that records in 32-bit float, so the level does not break during recording even with a sudden shout or a quiet whisper. Its two XLR/TRS inputs provide phantom power, and the unit has timecode, which makes syncing with a camera easy. It is rented for interviews, small shoots, recording talks and as a backup recorder at concerts.
The FR-AV2 is the right choice when there are one or two microphones and the kit has to stay small: a shotgun on a boompole plus a lavalier, or two microphones in an interview. If you need four inputs, a mixer and more tracks, take the Sound Devices MixPre-6 II. For someone filming on a phone who does not want a separate recorder, the Shure MV88+ is the better fit.
What to consider when renting
The recorder uses a microSD card; bring your own or ask us. Power comes from AA batteries or over USB-C; for a long day bring a power bank. Connect the microphones with XLR cables and switch phantom power on for condensers. Headphones are necessary to hear what is going onto the card. Setup is simple, but make a short test recording before the real take.
Best for
