Battery-powered speech kit for outdoors
for up to 50 people
The simplest sound kit for a place with no socket: a forest trail opening, a beach ceremony, an old town tour, an open-air service, the start of a sports day. Two JBL EON Compact speakers run on batteries, so does the RØDE Wireless GO II microphone system, and all fits in one car. The kit is for speech and light background music for up to 50 people outdoors, not for dancing or a band. The presenter clips a small transmitter to their collar or talks straight into it; the receiver plugs into a speaker and the voice comes out.
Outdoors there are no walls to reflect sound back, so the far end of a crowd hears worse than in a hall. So the kit has two speakers, not one: either side of the crowd or apart, so everyone is close to one. The speakers have Bluetooth, so background music comes from a phone. The Wireless GO II has two transmitters, so two people can talk at once, say a guide and an interpreter or a couple at a ceremony. The maker rates the speaker at up to 12 hours; start with a full battery anyway.

Why these items
- 1.Two JBL EON COMPACT ONE speakers are battery-powered and carry speech outdoors where there are no walls; two let you cover two directions or a long area and give headroom when one is not enough.
- 2.The RØDE Wireless GO II is a compact wireless system with two clip-on transmitters that have a microphone built in and one receiver that connects to a speaker; it runs on batteries and needs no mixer.
- 3.Two speaker stands lift the speakers above people's heads, which matters even more outdoors, because a speaker standing on the ground is blocked by the second row already.
Setup and preparation
The speakers go on the stands, are aimed at the crowd and switched on; the Wireless GO II receiver connects by cable to one speaker's input and the transmitter clips to the speaker's collar or is held in the hand. There are several ways to connect the second speaker depending on the layout of the area; we show you at handover. The whole setup takes one person little time and needs no tools. Tell us when ordering whether music comes from a phone or a computer.
On your side you only need someone to carry the speakers to the spot and switch them on, and a fully charged phone for the music. In rain, cover the speakers with plastic or move them under a canopy; the electronics are not waterproof. In wind, weigh down the stand legs with a sandbag or a water canister. The transmitters and receiver charge over USB, so bring a power bank. On request our technician comes and sets everything up; this is a separately ordered service.

When to choose another kit
If there is mains power outdoors and more than 50 people, the Speech kit for up to 50 people or the Presentation and seminar kit for up to 150 people is louder and comes with a mixer. If you need a handheld to pass around the crowd, or a headset, ask for a Shure wireless system in addition; the Wireless GO II transmitters are made for the collar. For a big outdoor party there is the Outdoor event kit for up to 300 people, which does need a generator or mains.
