Does the B28 make sense in a smaller hall?

Rarely. In a hall for a few hundred people the B18 does the same job with less effort. The B28 is worth it when the audience is in the thousands or the event is outdoors.

How many amplifiers does the B28 need?

Usually one I-Tech 12000HD channel per sub, so one amplifier for two subs. For a larger count send us the system plan and we will work out the amplifiers.

The JBL VTX B28 is a passive subwoofer with two 18-inch drivers, the largest bass cabinet in our warehouse. We rent it for festival main stages, concerts in big halls and outdoor events with thousands of people, where the bass has to reach the last row. Under or beside a VTX A8 hang, the B28 delivers the low end that bands and electronic music artists expect.

The B28 needs the Crown I-Tech 12000HD amplifier, usually one channel per sub, and goes in one package with A8 elements and the A8 BP or A8 AF. In a medium-sized hall the B18 is often enough and easier to move. In an active-speaker kit the equivalent is the SRX828SP, which has its amplifier built in.

What to consider when renting

Every B28 needs an amplifier channel, a Speakon cable and the correct DSP preset. The cabinet is big and heavy, so plan a level path, two people and a cart. The subs go on the floor in front of the stage, and the A8 stack can rise on top of them. We recommend ordering this kit with installation; our technician sets up and tunes the system.
