DJ vinyl kit
for up to 150 people
This kit is for a DJ who plays records and for an organiser who wants to give them a proper place to work. Two direct-drive Technics SL-1210MK7 turntables, Ortofon Concorde Club MKII cartridges and a Pioneer DJM-A9 mixer make up a classic vinyl booth. Sound comes from two JBL PRX815 speakers and one SRX818SP subwoofer, enough indoors for up to 150 people: a bar, a club night, a private party or a company event with a dance floor but not a big hall. Records, headphones and a microphone are not included; the DJ usually brings their own.
Working with vinyl has demands that a USB setup does not. The stylus picks up vibration, so the table must stand firmly and the subwoofer must not sit directly beside or under it. That is why the kit has its own DJ table and speakers on stands, not on the floor by the booth. Through the night the DJ plays from their record bag; the DJM-A9 blends the two turntables and feeds the speakers and the sub. If the DJ also plays part of the night from a computer, the laptop connects straight to the mixer's USB port.

Why these items
- 1.Two Technics SL-1210MK7 turntables are needed because a DJ mixes from one record into the next, and direct drive gives the quick start and stable speed that working with records demands.
- 2.Two Ortofon Concorde Club MKII cartridges, one per turntable, are built for club use: they stay in the groove under heavy bass and handling and need no separate mounting or alignment.
- 3.The Pioneer DJM-A9 is a four-channel DJ mixer with phono inputs, so the turntables connect directly and two free channels remain for a laptop or a guest DJ's player.
- 4.The Gravity FT 01 DJ table gives both turntables and the mixer one solid surface at the right height, which matters more with vinyl than anywhere else because a wobbly table makes the needle skip.
- 5.Two JBL PRX815 active speakers with 15-inch woofers cover a room of up to 150 people and give a full dance sound even without the subwoofer when the room is small.
- 6.One JBL SRX818SP subwoofer adds the low end that the 15-inch speakers alone do not deliver, and one is enough for a room of this size.
- 7.Two speaker stands lift the PRX815 speakers to head height so the sound reaches the back of the room instead of getting stuck behind the first row of dancers.
Setup and preparation
The table goes where the DJ can see the dance floor but as far from the subwoofer as possible. The turntables sit on the table, the Concorde cartridges twist onto the tonearms and the mixer goes between them. The speakers go on stands either side of the dance floor, the subwoofer under one speaker or at the stage edge. Signal runs from the mixer straight to the active speakers; no separate amplifier is needed. Tell us if the DJ also plays from a laptop, so the right cables come along.
On your side you need a sound, earthed extension lead, because the speakers, sub, turntables and mixer all need power. Leave a flat, hard surface under the table; a carpet or a stage riser resonates with the bass. You can set the kit up yourselves if the DJ has worked with vinyl before; if not, we will set it up and tune it on request. Ask about setup when ordering.

When to choose another kit
If the party is bigger than 150 people or the room is tall and long, choose the DJ kit for up to 200 people, which has two subwoofers and SRX812P speakers; turntables and cartridges can be added to it separately. If you only need the players and the mixer because the venue has its own sound system, rent the turntables, cartridges and DJM-A9 individually from the catalogue.
