The Shure Nexadyne 8/S is a new-generation supercardioid dynamic handheld for singers. The dual-transducer Revonic technology gives a more even polar pattern and less handling noise than classic dynamic vocal mics, so the voice sounds more natural at the desk even before EQ. It is rented for band concerts, club nights, festivals and television recordings where vocals need to cut through clearly on a loud stage. No phantom power required.

How to choose a vocal mic from our stock: the Shure SM58 is cardioid and universal, the BETA 58A supercardioid and brighter, the Nexadyne 8/S the newest dynamic with the cleanest side rejection, and the KSM9 a condenser with the most detail, needing phantom power. The Telefunken M80 is a supercardioid alternative with another maker's voicing. The Nexadyne 8/S is a good compromise when you want dynamic reliability and openness approaching a condenser. What to consider when renting

Clip it onto a stand or hand it to the singer. Sing straight into the grille from a few centimetres away and keep your palm off the grille. With a supercardioid, angle the monitor towards the mic rather than placing it directly behind. XLR cable to the mixer; no phantom power is needed and it does no harm. Start with a flat EQ at the desk and add only what is missing. Fine to use without a technician.
