What is the difference between the KSM11 and Beta 58A capsules?

The KSM11 is a condenser capsule with a more detailed, open sound, suited to an experienced vocalist and a controlled stage. The Beta 58A is dynamic and more forgiving of a loud stage and rough microphone technique.

Can I swap the capsule?

Yes, Shure capsules screw on and off. We rent the RPW 192 KSM11, RPW 184 KSM9 and RPW 174 KSM8 capsules separately.

The Shure ADX2/K11 is the Axient Digital handheld with the KSM11 condenser capsule and ShowLink remote control. The KSM11 is Shure's top vocal capsule, with a detailed, natural voice. We rent it to headliners at concerts, galas and TV shows where the voice is front and centre and the engineer must be able to adjust the transmitter from a distance.

It needs an AD4D, AD4Q or ADX5D receiver and an AD610 access point for ShowLink. The same microphone without ShowLink is the AD2/K11; the same transmitter with a dynamic capsule is the ADX2/B58A. If you do not need the top-tier system, the QLXD2/K11 is the QLX-D transmitter with the same capsule.

What to consider when renting

Add a receiver, batteries and, if needed, the AD610 and SBRC charger to the cart. The transmitter runs on a Shure rechargeable battery; charge it fully before the event. A condenser capsule is more sensitive than a dynamic one, so keep the microphone away from speakers and monitors and let the engineer set the gain at the soundcheck. Sync by infrared in front of the receiver.
