The ADTQ is the four-channel in-ear monitor transmitter of Shure's Axient Digital PSM range: one rack unit delivers four independent stereo mixes, which musicians pick up on ADXR bodypack receivers. Everything is digital, so the engineer can configure and monitor the transmitter over the network, and inputs can arrive as analogue or over Dante straight from a digital console. We rent it to touring bands, large concert stages and TV productions with many monitor channels.

The ADTQ works only with ADXR receivers; PSM900 packs cannot be used with it, nor the other way round. To combine the antenna outputs of two or more ADTQ units into one antenna there is the AD221 passive combiner, and the HA-8091 helical makes a good transmitting antenna. If the band needs one or two stereo mixes and the budget is tighter, a PSM900 kit is still an excellent choice; the ADTQ is worth it when you need four or more channels and the spectrum is crowded.

What to consider when renting

The transmitter sits in a rack near the monitor desk and needs mains power, an antenna and feeds from the console (analogue or Dante). Every musician needs an ADXR receiver, a charged battery and their own earphones, for example SE215. Four mixes means four stereo outputs or aux pairs from the desk. We coordinate frequencies together with the wireless mics before handover; for a system like this we always recommend our technician taking charge of RF on site.
