The K&M 259/1 is a low-profile boom stand for sources close to the floor: kick drum, guitar and bass cabinets, cajón, musicians seated on the floor. The short tripod and telescopic boom let you place the microphone precisely at the speaker cone or the drum port without a tall stand blocking other instruments.

Miking a drum kit usually takes several of these: a Shure BETA 52A or AKG D112 on a 259/1 for the kick, an SM57 on another low stand for the guitar cabinet. Overheads and vocals need the tall K&M 210/9. When you order a drum microphone set, count the stands, we do not add them automatically.

What to consider when renting

A low stand is light, so with a heavier microphone keep the boom short and point one leg towards the mic, otherwise it tips over. The mic clip comes with the microphone. Around the drummer, place the stand where pedals and feet will not hit it, and tape the cable to the floor. Easy to set up without experience.
