Does the 4061 work with my own Sennheiser or Shure bodypack?

DPA uses its own MicroDot connector and an adapter goes onto the transmitter. We have adapters for our Shure bodypacks; for other brands, ask in advance whether a matching adapter is available.

Will one microphone survive a whole show's sweat?

Sweat is a risk for every miniature mic. In theatre the mic is placed out of the sweat path and a spare is kept at hand. For a physically demanding show, ask us for two kits.

The DPA 4061 Core is an omnidirectional miniature lavalier used where the microphone must be nearly invisible and the sound natural: on an actor's hairline or cheek in theatre and musicals, at the collar in TV programmes and interviews, on the chest of a keynote speaker at a conference. The Core version handles loud sources, so it also works for an actor who sings on stage, not only for speech.

It needs a bodypack transmitter. With our Shure bodypacks (AD1, ADX1, QLXD1, SLXD1) it connects through an adapter, which we add to the kit once you tell us which transmitter it goes on. Compared with the Shure MX150B lavalier, the 4061 is smaller and more neutral; the MX150B is a sensible choice for a regular conference, the 4061 for theatre and camera work. If the speaker turns their head a lot or dances, consider the DH5T or MX153 headset instead, where the capsule stays fixed relative to the mouth.

What to consider when renting

With an omni lavalier the position relative to the mouth changes the sound less than with a directional mic, but clothing rustle and sweat are the main enemies: clip it firmly and leave a small strain-relief loop in the cable. Transmitter, its batteries and the right adapter come separately or as a kit, so state the transmitter model when ordering. Hairline mounting in theatre needs skin tape and experience; we can provide a technician.
