Palmer PRMLS

The Palmer PRMLS is a four-channel line splitter: each input signal is split into two outputs, one of which is galvanically isolated by a transformer. You need it when the same line signal has to reach two places at once: front-of-house mixer and recorder, front-of-house and an OB van, or the main system and a speaker system in another room. The transformer prevents a ground loop between two separately powered systems.

A typical setup is a digital console such as the Yamaha QL1 whose outputs are split with the PRMLS to a Sound Devices MixPre-6 II recorder or the video team's mixer. Four channels cover a stereo main mix plus two extra lines. If you need to split microphone signals rather than line level, you need a mic splitter, ask us. To bring a single source into the mixer, an ordinary DI box is enough.
